Consumer Privacy and How It Affects You
Overview
Technology and new marketing practices have increased the amount of patient and physician information collected and shared in today's marketplace. Patients and physicians are concerned about the impact this development has or might have on their privacy and reputation. At RxHope.com we are sensitive to the importance of these concerns. We want to serve patients and physicians as effectively and conveniently as possible, and such service involves making use of technology and information. But we also want our customers to be confident that their relationship with RxHope.com is treated with the appropriate confidentiality. We therefore commit that we will take reasonable steps to protect the privacy of the information shared with us. Our customers are protected not only by state and federal laws but - even more importantly - by RxHope.com's commitment to them.

RxHope Employees

RxHope employees are informed of their responsibility to protect confidential customer information and are bound by this Privacy Policy. They are governed by a code of conduct that includes the responsibility to protect the confidentiality of customers' medical and other personal information.

Only employees actively engaged in the discharge of their assigned duties are authorized to access or use customer information.

Information Collection, Consumer Privacy and How It Affects You

Information about consumers is accumulated from a variety of sources. Some information is provided to RxHope.com directly by customers themselves. Other data is developed by RxHope.com as a function of providing our service to a customer. Still other information is obtained from outside sources. We will limit the use and collection of information about our customers to that which is necessary to administer our business, provide superior service, and offer opportunities that we think will be of interest to customers. This means we will use information to help identify additional products or services, which we believe customers, might want to know about. We will use this information only in accordance with the principles set out in this Policy.

Records Security

We will maintain and grant access to customer information only in accordance with RxHope.com's internal security standards.

Accuracy

Equally important, we will strive to ensure that the information concerning our customers is accurate. RxHope.com intends to employ reasonable measures to ensure the accuracy, timeliness and completeness of our customer information. If we become aware of inaccuracies in our records, we will take prompt steps to make appropriate corrections.

Product Decisions

RxHope.com does not make approval decisions. RxHope.com merely acts as an agent for the pharmaceutical company that actually provides the product. In such cases, any decision to decline an application for medication will be made by the pharmaceutical company, not by RxHope

Sharing Consumer Information

As part of our effort to provide customers with comprehensive and effective service, we use customer information to determine whether customers might want to know about certain RxHope.com services. We will control carefully the way in which any information about customers is shared. Unless we have a customer's advance authorization to do otherwise, we will treat the customer's information only in the following ways:

  • Within RxHope.com
  • We are permitted to share within the RxHope.com organization information concerning a customer's history and experiences with RxHope.com. In some situations, a person might disclose or authorize the disclosure of medical information as part of an application for a specific product. We will share any such medical information only with those who need to know this information in order to process the application. We will not allow this information to be used elsewhere within RxHope.com for any other purpose.
  • We may also share among the legal entities that comprise the RxHope.com organization
  • Information someone has given us as part of an application for products or services, or
  • Geographical information which is nonspecific in nature
  • Customers may request us not to share this type of information by calling us at 1-908-850-8004, whereupon the information will not be shared.
  • With 3rd Party Participants & 3rd Party Vendors
  • Sometimes specific customer information has to be shared with companies we hire to provide operational support, companies that participate with us in supplying products and services to customers, and companies that promote products and services on our behalf. Except in unusual situations (where they might be governed by federal or state laws to the contrary), these companies are not permitted to use our customer information for purposes other than the provision of the service intended. We will share your information with these companies only if they agree to treat it confidentially.
  • Occasionally, RxHope.com makes a decision to sell a particular line of business. Usually, an integral part of that business is its customer database. RxHope.com reserves the right, in these unusual circumstances, to transfer ownership of such customer databases to the purchaser.
Privacy on the Internet

Physicians and Patients may have special privacy concerns regarding RxHope.com’s services on the Internet. In particular, these customers might be anxious to ensure that their information is secure, that such information is also covered by our Privacy Policy, and that they are aware of and can control RxHope.com’s use of their personal information in the Internet environment.

RxHope.com is equally concerned about customer privacy in the Internet world and is committed to its protection. For the security measures RxHope.com applies, please refer to the security and privacy section. Please also know that the RxHope.com Privacy Policy applies in its entirety to anything customers might do at our Web Site.

In addition, RxHope wants you to know about cookies and how and why RxHope may use them.
  • Cookies are messages a web server (for example, our www.RxHope.com.com server) gives to a web browser (used by our customer). The message contains information that is then stored on the customer’s computer and sent back to the server when the customer’s browser requests pages from the server.
  • Cookies are used for many purposes: to enhance customer convenience (for example, to store passwords and User Names so the customer does not have to enter this information every time); to personalize the session for the customer (for example, to customize pages for the customer based on the information contained in the cookie); and to track customer activity at the Web Site for later use in marketing and responding to customer needs.
  • The server that has sent the cookie to the browser can only read cookies, and they cannot be used to retrieve any information from the customer computer that has not been given directly by the customer to the server.
  • Computer viruses cannot be transmitted through cookies.
Customers can disallow cookies. You may do this by making the appropriate selection from your browser options. You should understand, however, that:
  • Certain services provided by RxHope.com require cookies for effective delivery. Where this is the case, customers will be warned that they will need to allow cookies if they wish to receive the service. The choice will at all times be the customer’s.
  • If the customer does allow cookies, RxHope.com will at all times treat the information supplied through those cookies with the same security and privacy protection as any other customer information we receive.

Internet Privacy FAQs

The Internet Privacy FAQs below will answer some questions and explain some of the technology that helps keep information private on the Internet.
How do I know if the site I am using is secure?

There are two ways to determine whether or not the website you are viewing is secure:

1) Look at the address of the web page being viewed. An “s” at the end of http indicates that you are attached to a secure server using SSL technology. Therefore, any web page beginning with https:// is secure.
2) If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0, Netscape Navigator 4.0 or a higher version of either of these browsers, look at the lower right hand corner of the browser’s window. A picture of a lock or a key, depending on the browser, should be visible. If the lock is closed or the key is solid, you are on a secure site. If the lock is open or the key is broken, the site you are visiting is not secure.

What is SSL?

SSL is an encryption technology called Secure Sockets Layer. SSL provides secure communications over the Internet by verifying that the server to which you are connected is the one it claims to be. It also encrypts all transactions between the parties communicating.

What is encryption?

Encryption is the way in which information is scrambled when it is sent over the Internet. Your data is made indecipherable to any other party when encryption is used. The strongest form of encryption available over the Internet today is 128-bit.

RxHope recommends using 128-bit encryption for security. You can test your browser to see if it’s 128-bit enabled.

What are cookies?

A cookie is a file sent from a website to a computer that is logged on to the site. This file lets the site recognize if the computer has been there before and what security requirements and browser preferences the computer requires. The site that has sent the cookie is the only one that can read the cookie, and only information that has been given directly by the logged on user to the site is accessible. Computer viruses cannot be transmitted through cookies.

Do I have to accept cookies?

Customers can choose to not accept cookies. You may do this by making the appropriate selection from your browser options. You should understand, however, that certain services require cookies for effective delivery. Where this is the case, users will be informed that they will need to allow cookies if they wish to receive the service. Cookies also make your visit to a site simpler by keeping you from having to re-enter your password every time you change pages within a secure session.

or information on how RxHope.com uses cookies, see our Privacy Policy.

How do I make sure my information cannot be accessed after I use a public computer?

If you access information via a public computer, such as at a public library, it is important that you properly log off the website after you have finished your session. This will help ensure the security and privacy of your visit.

Security

How RxHope.com protects you online.

Protecting your personal information online is vital to RxHope.com. We go to great lengths to see that your transactions are confidential and secure. To read about the technology that keeps your personal information private, just click on a topic below.
Your User Name and Password

One way your transactions and accounts are protected is by your self-selected User Name and Password. Be sure to keep them a secret. Memorize them and, if you need to keep a written record of them, store it away from your computer and do not carry it in your wallet. Make sure no one watches you enter this information and remember to log off the RxHope.com site when leaving your computer. If your computer is left unattended with the browser running and your User Name and Password have been entered, anyone can gain access to your files.

You should take all reasonable precautions to keep your computer clean and free from viruses that could be used to capture password keystrokes.

Browser Protocol

Another security measure resides in your browser. Secure Sockets Layer protocol (SSL) provides privacy for data flowing between you and RxHope.com. Microsoft’s Internet Explorer, Netscape’s Communicator and Navigator and America Online are all examples of secure browsers.

Currently there are two types of secure browsers available to consumers: 40-bit encryption and 128-bit encryption. We recommend that our customers use the stronger 128-bit encrypted browser due to the increased level of security this provides. In order to use 128-bit encryption, you may need to upgrade your browser. If you are unsure as to whether or not your computer uses 128-bit encryption, you may test your browser to find out.

Encryption

Personal information passing between your computer and RxHope.com is encrypted. This means that while your information is in transit it is scrambled so that only RxHope.com can reassemble it in its original text format. Likewise, when RxHope.com sends personal information to you, it is encrypted so that only your computer can decipher it.

Filters and Firewalls

Internal procedures are in place within RxHope.com that include a stringent system of filtering routers and firewalls. Filtering routers verify the source and destination of each transaction. Firewalls shield RxHope’s customer service network from outside sources. Through these systems, internal accounts are protected from outside access and the structure of our internal network is invisible to outside observers.

Additional Measures

New advances in security technology are happening daily, and RxHope.com is constantly evaluating its security architecture to ensure that it provides the most appropriate level of privacy and safety for our customers.

How to Protect Your Information

Protect Your User Name and Password

Protecting your self-selected User Name and Password is one of the most important things you can do to keep your information secure. Only you should know what your User Name and Password are. Here are some ways to keep this information secure:
  • Do not share your User Name and Password with anyone else
  • Make sure no one is watching you when you type in your User Name and Password
  • Memorize your User Name and Password
  • If you think you might not remember them, make sure that you keep a copy of your User Name and Password somewhere other than at your computer or in your wallet or purse
  • Change your Password often and do not use simple words or numbers in sequence. It is a good idea to use numbers, letters, both upper and lower case, and symbols that are unique to you, but do not use obvious words and numbers, like a family member's name and birthday.
  • Completely Exit RxHope.com - Leaving your computer with your information open, even for a few moments, can be dangerous. The best thing you can do before you leave your computer is to log out of RxHope Website by clicking the “log out” button. This ends your session and ensures that the next time you or anyone else tries to enter your account, they have to know your User Name and Password.
